What is Nalam?
Nalam is a UK-based community health organisation dedicated to making healthcare more accessible, culturally relevant and impactful. Through public health education, charitable projects and opportunities for the next generation of healthcare professionals, we work to improve the health and wellbeing of communities both in the UK and internationally.
நலம்
In Tamil, Nalam means wellbeing, health and welfare. It represents more than physical health and reflects the idea that thriving communities are built through education, compassion and collective action. That belief sits at the heart of everything we do.
/Our Goals
Guided by purpose. Driven by compassion.
Our Story
Nalam was founded by a group of doctors and medical students who recognised that improving health extends far beyond hospitals and clinics. Throughout our training, we saw the importance of prevention, education and early intervention, as well as the barriers that many communities face in accessing reliable health information and opportunities.
We created Nalam to bring together healthcare professionals, students and volunteers to address those challenges through meaningful community engagement. By combining public health education, support for aspiring and current healthcare professionals, and charitable initiatives, we aim to create lasting impact both within the UK and internationally.
Although Nalam is a new organisation, our ambition is clear: to build sustainable programmes that improve health, empower future healthcare professionals and strengthen the communities we serve.
