This year, Nalam is partnering with Vanni Hope to support maternal, newborn and paediatric care across three government hospitals in Sri Lanka’s Eastern Province: Valaichenai Base Hospital, Thirukkovil Base Hospital and Pulmoddai Base Hospital.
Our project will help fund essential equipment for safe delivery, antenatal care, newborn and neonatal care, and paediatric intensive care, based on the needs identified by the hospitals themselves.
The doctors, midwives and healthcare teams are already there, caring for their communities every day. Our aim is to support them with more of the tools they need, helping more mothers, babies and children receive care closer to home.
Working with Vanni Hope, the equipment will be procured and delivered through established health-system channels, handed over directly to the hospitals, and supported with staff orientation and follow-up after delivery.
