A Different Approach to Community Health
Many preventable health conditions, including type 2 diabetes and high cholesterol, disproportionately affect South Asian communities. We believe that improving health starts long before someone walks into a hospital or clinic.
Healthier Communities is Nalam's flagship public health programme, bringing together education, food, healthcare professionals and community partnerships to make healthier living more accessible, practical and culturally relevant.
Rather than asking communities to change who they are, we work alongside them to promote healthier choices that fit naturally into everyday life.
/Our Approach
Building healthier futures.
Our programme is built around 4 key areas.
By combining healthcare professionals, local businesses and community organisations, we're working to make prevention more engaging, relatable and sustainable.

Why It Matters
South Asian communities experience higher rates of conditions such as type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease, yet health education is often inaccessible, culturally disconnected or delivered too late.
By combining healthcare professionals, local businesses and community organisations, we're working to make prevention more engaging, relatable and sustainable.
Our ambition is to work with more restaurants, expand our community partnerships, deliver larger public health campaigns and develop new initiatives that make healthier living accessible to more people.
